EuroLift (prostate ligation)
The prostate is one of the male reproductive organs, about the size of a walnut, and produces prostatic fluid, which makes up about 301 TP3T of semen. It is connected to the urethra and plays an important role in urination, but when the prostate enlarges, it puts pressure on the urethra, causing difficulty urinating. This is known as an enlarged prostate.
While BPH is not a life-threatening condition, it can significantly reduce the quality of life for many middle-aged and older men. Many men put off visiting a doctor because they think they can "live with it," but if left untreated, symptoms can lead to diapers later in life.
BPH is a common enough condition that it usually begins to appear in the 30s and 40s, when male hormones begin to become irregular, and by the time men reach their 50s, 50% or higher, and most men in their 70s and 80s, it is common enough to affect them.
Instead of removing the prostate or burning it with a laser, EuroLift involves inserting a small implant and then implanting tethers to bind the two sides of the prostate to create more space for urine to flow.

Benefits of EuroLift
Because EuroLift is performed under a simple local anesthetic and takes as little as 15 to 20 minutes, there are significantly fewer side effects that can occur during surgery. There is also a lower chance of complications such as erectile dysfunction, incontinence, or retrograde ejaculation.
Causes of BPH and the EuroLift Procedure
The exact cause of BPH is still not fully understood, but it's thought to be a combination of factors.
As you age, the male hormone testosterone can be the main culprit in stimulating the growth of the prostate. You're also more likely to develop it if you have a family history of it, and lifestyle habits such as obesity, high-fat diets, and physical inactivity may also be linked to the development of BPH.
The BPH procedure is indicated for these people
Men often ignore the symptoms of BPH because they think it's an inevitable part of getting older. While it's true that bodily functions decline and urinary control becomes more difficult as we age, BPH is different from normal aging in that it's caused by an enlarged prostate gland.

If left untreated, an enlarged prostate can lead to an inability to urinate properly and the need to wear a urinary bag.
If this condition persists, there is a risk that bladder function will be impaired and you will not be able to pass urine naturally, even after the prostate is treated, and you may need to wear a urinary cord for the rest of your life. In severe cases, kidney function can also be impaired and various complications such as bladder stones and urinary tract infections can occur, so it is important to manage this condition early on.
