HIFU Procedure
What is the Haifu procedure?
The HIFU procedure is an effective non-surgical treatment that focuses high-intensity ultrasound energy that is harmless to the body to selectively remove only the targeted lesion.
Because HIFU involves selectively treating uterine tumors using ultrasound without making an incision, the location and shape of the tumor and the patient's health must be carefully considered beforehand.
And a patient's health condition can affect the outcome of treatment. Haifu treatment follows treatment guidelines to ensure safe treatment.
How Haifu works
HIFU can only necrolyze 80% to 90% of the uterine tumor volume to prevent the powerful heat energy from damaging the endometrium.
The necrotic diseased tissue is either absorbed by the body through the lymphatic circulation or expelled from the body through the uterine lumen, and over time, the fibroids gradually shrink in size, relieving symptoms.
Benefits of Haifu Treatment
HIFU is safe with minimal complications and side effects because the high-intensity ultrasound energy selectively treats only the lesioned tissue while sparing normal tissue.
